In class we talked about the history of sexuality. Being called the "history" of sexuality it suggests the idea of sex constantly changing over time. It is economically useful to feed off of sexuality. Especially in this day and age advertisements are built around the idea of sex. If you want to sell something put a picture of a half naked, beautiful woman on it and it will sell. In conclusion of this theory; sex sells. Anyone who can argue that it is not right to exploit women like that have obviously not been exposed to tasteful sexy ads. If a woman wants to expose herself who are we to stop her? Same goes for men; what about men who pose for playboy or do pornagraphic films, how come they are not ridiculed and judged? This world is too off balance. But that is what makes it turn round and round. If we were all equal, and if everyone was treated fairly and the same then life would be pretty boring with no challenges to overcome. I don't mind people who are all about peace in this world and between religions but lets get real, people will believe what they want to and do what they want to, no use in you standing on the corner with a little sign that says honk if you agree with ..., so just save your time and do something to contribute to society... get a job!
Foucalt was very interested in order. Especially the power and knowledge relationship.Without knowledge there is no power and without power there is no knowledge. We monitor each other in a sense that if a mom was screaming at her child in public we would shoot her a stare in disgust. This is our own little way of controlling what goes on around us. We monitor each other by eternalizing what is right and what is wrong. The body of women became so sexualized because of their role in child bearing. If women weren't made to be sexy and attractive to men then this world would have ended right when it began. We need to have men attracted to women for procreation, it is that simple.
